On a warm July morning at VMCA, the community gathered not only to enjoy one another’s company but also to learn something practical and refreshing — how to make their very own natural mosquito repellent balm.

The workshop was one of the highlights of our July 14th summer gathering. Using soothing essential oils and natural ingredients, participants were guided step-by-step through the creation process. The ingredients were simple — beeswax, coconut oil, and a blend of essential oils like lavender, eucalyptus, citronella, and lemon — but the results were personal and powerful.

As everyone stirred, poured, and blended, the room filled with the invigorating scent of herbs and citrus. The atmosphere was calm and cheerful. Laughter mingled with the clinking of jars, and participants proudly showed off their finished balms. Each person left not only with a handy product for the summer but also a new skill and a deeper appreciation for natural living.
Workshops like this are what make VMCA special — simple yet meaningful opportunities for hands-on learning, creativity, and connection. We’re already looking forward to our next DIY experience!
