As part of our Creative Flower Arrangement Program for seniors, Teacher Heather led the class on a special outdoor visit to a local flower nursery — a refreshing change of scenery that brought learning to life.
Surrounded by a vibrant variety of flowers, participants had the chance to deepen their understanding of plants in a real-world setting. Heather thoughtfully prepared printed plant guides to help everyone identify what they saw and even shared digital versions in the group chat so that those who couldn’t attend could still benefit. Her care and dedication were evident in every thoughtful detail.
The nursery, nestled right on Yonge Street, offered a peaceful retreat — and even better, free parking! However, the extra distance from our regular classroom did lead to a small delay for Teresa Lo and her husband, who were heading straight to our second class. Thank you both for your patience and enthusiasm!
Heather’s explanations were clear and engaging, sparking great interaction among participants. Teacher Annie also helped capture the moment, recording short videos to share in our class group chat so everyone could relive the experience.
Participants learned that compared to hydroponic plants, potted arrangements like the ones at the nursery are easier to grow and maintain — making them perfect for home floral design. Just like in life, flower arranging takes patience, care, and the right balance. When those elements come together, something beautiful always blooms.
We’re so proud of our seniors and grateful for the guidance of our wonderful teachers. Stay tuned — more blossoming creativity is on the way!
