Mobile filmmaking doesn’t have to be intimidating—especially when you’re learning alongside friends. On June 23, our Senior Inclusion Photography Art class turned smartphones into creative tools, showing just how easy and fun it is to capture life on video.
Participants started by learning the basics of phone setup—adjusting brightness and audio, setting the video resolution to 1080p at 60fps, enabling gridlines, and clearing storage. These simple steps helped everyone feel more confident behind the lens.
With phones in hand, the class practiced holding steady shots, choosing between portrait and landscape modes, and using smooth movements to record scenes. Instead of zooming in digitally, they stepped closer for clearer shots—an easy trick that makes a big difference!
As participants explored photo, video, and dynamic shooting modes, smiles and “I didn’t know my phone could do that!” moments filled the room. The class ended with new skills, plenty of laughter, and a sense of creative accomplishment.
This was just the beginning—upcoming sessions will dive into editing, storytelling, and personal projects. We’re building not only skills, but also confidence, creativity, and community.
